I was wondering if there is a kind soul in the Savannah, Ga area with whom I can correspond regarding 19th century Savannah. Mainly regarding boats, tides, the Savannah river and the War Between The States

It's a Savannah marine museum that deals with the topics you are interested in. They may also carry a book by a local author (Rusty Fleetwood) entitled 'Tidecraft' which deals more specifically with historical SE US small craft.
