I'm planning to actually get to the Wooden Boat Show in Rockland this July. This will be the first time I've been able to attend the event.

As I collect new projects, I need to sell some of my past ones to make room (both spatially and financially) for my latest acquisitions.

I have a 15 foot refinished boat on a trailer (I leave out details to avoid acusations of "merchandising on the forum) which I would like to sell.

My questions:

Is the show a good place to sell a boat?

What would be the best and most cost effective way to present the boat at the show?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

That may depend on where you live and what the boat is. You'd probably find lots of tire-kickers & being in the show can't be cheap. But lots of folks who love wood.

Last year was my first trip to the Show, so I'm no expert. I never let that stop me from chiming in.

The WoodenBoat Show only allows paying exhibitors on the grounds - I think. This is basically a place for builders & vendors to sell their products. Space is rented by the square foot I think. Or 10'x10' sections.

I saw a few boats parked on the street outside the main entrance with "FOR SALE" signs. Those parking spaces were at a premium and I guess you have to get there EARLY to get a good one. Parking in general is a pain.

If you got a good parking place, you would get lots of exposure. But it's a gamble. You will have stiff competition from the exhibitors inside. Serious competition.
