Reefing that jib would be, ummm, challenging.

It looks like the jib boom is on a pivot attachment to the bowsprit. But the jib boom looks too long to pass the mast when tacking. Definitely a rig for calm and warm waters. Wear swimming apparel.

It passes the mast.

btw, the boat is built to NGH's Riveria design, built by forum member Mike Hanyi. he's posted about this boat as well as his Coquina build extensively. He built his Coquina before any of the modern research was done by Hylan.

Yes. I can just see some daylight from that angle. But how in the world is that jib reefed when underway?

Strike, reef, re-set.

I think Figment has it but it may be possible to actually roll it on that jib boom, it's not set up that way now but could be ?

With a jib that's set flying like that, all you'd need is a long enough line attaching it to the bowsprit, and you could bring the sail into the cockpit as you lowered it.

It looks like there is a line leading back that might be used to set and release the jib boom from the bowsprit. If so, that would allow the jib with boom attached to be pulled back into the boat for reefing.

There is a 2007 thread about this boat.
