Several folks asked about the slideshow, but I hesitated and then got busy. As time passed I was about to let it go completely. There were just a couple of things I wanted to fix before I uploaded it, but it turned into a real project converting audio files and some other things that should of been simple, but weren't.
Credit where credit is due - the original slideshow was a product of Kristy and her most-wonderful husband. I just scanned the pictures in the beginning and then tweaked a few things just now.
Photodex is the slideshow equalivant of Image Station. I tested this from the office, and it didn’t require me to register (either you don’t have register to or Photodex recognized it was dealing with a computer registered to me – who knows), but you will have to download their viewer software (less than one minute on a DSL connection).
To view the slide show you need to click on this link and in the center of the page in the member name box enter "margogeer" (all lower case, no spaces, no quotes).
Dave (http://www.photodex.com/sharing/)
This should take you to my albums. Along the way you'll get the normal prompts for the software download, license agreement, etc.
How it works with dial up connections, I don't know but with the DSL connection it didn't download the whole business (HUGE PICUTRE AND AUDIO FILE), it just played like a movie after the quick software download.
For those interested, in return for your kindness, I give you this glimpse of my husband and his life.
While heart warming and precious, this topic is dangerously close to being a dead horse. I've hesitated to post a link to the slideshow for this reason. There is really nothing that can be said that hasn't already been posted. I know that you all are with me, and I know that Dave is with me.
I specifically know that Dave is with me, because after hurricane passed, and I went down to check on Sarah in the dark hours of the morning, as I got within a block of the boatyard the song that came on the radio was Lone Star's Not a Day Goes By.
Now no one but Kristy and all 8,000 of you know that little piece of the hurricane story. ;)

I can't get into the slide show. It may just be this computer. It's been acting weird lately, even though I scan it daily.
You're not 'beating a dead horse'. There is no right way or wrong way to live with grief. I burst into tears the other day about Sheba, while driving. I relived our last hour or so together. You know how memory can work while driving.
Be well my friend.

It may not be you Jack. Photodex behaves completely differently on my computer because I have their software package. I tried to test it from the office on a "virgin" computer, but who knows
Plan B = go to http://www.photodex.com/sharing/
Click on Browse Member (left side)
Enter margogeer in Member Name box
Let me know if that works.

Nope.
I also get a prompt for Norton Antivirus. Whether I let it in or not, same result, no pics.
Mystery.
I would like to see them. smile.gif

It's probably me somehow.
I get to the place where asked about two albums, and when I click on one I get asked if I want Norton past my firewall, and no matter what I say I get a 'loading Photodex thingy' that doesn't load, and them a failure message. The pics show up as a red x in the upper left corner.
Let's see if others are loading them. This may be me. I get messages daily, stopped by my firewall, that sound mildly copacetic, but I don't know what they are, so I turn them down. They sound like: Network facilitator, Common Client apps., etc. I also get a frequent icon in my tool bar saying there are networks unplugged.
I sure wish computers spoke English. Rebuilding Sarah is a much more direct matter. smile.gif

Not afraid to say it. SWIMPAL and I sat here and within 20 seconds we were both reaching for Kleenex.
Oh, it was beautiful!

Got it to run on the computer here at work sans sound (no speakers)
Great show!
I kept wondering who the cute RED HEAD was that was showing up in the grandkids section. ;)
Oh she's the same one that shows up in the "Margo" section. :D
Very nice Margo; keep beating this horse!

Well, fortunatly I came to my senses before I had to display my ignorance to the tech support people. (Do not take that as a reflection on anyone's brights but my own.) Proshow works just fine on Internet Explorer. It doesn't work on Opera. I may or may not try in on Netscape, depends on my level of curiosity.
Shane, is there a slide block in the water screen, upper left, and a "loop" word at the bottom? Click on either if you are in IE.
Margo ....
Best wishes.

I was able to open, download and play the slide show from PhotoDex without a problem from my computer at home. We have broadband, though, and it took just a couple of minutes, if that. I hope others are able to enjoy it ...
Though we worked on the original, and I have a hard copy that I've shared with my friends, etc., it was very difficult to watch it at times. Just the thought of some of the songs will throw me into a spell. I started getting panicky and battling that his passing wasn't true --that it was a bad dream and he was still around for us to take pictures and share memories with. A few deep breaths and I manage ... somehow!
Reality, along with the dagger-like claws and sharp teeth, have made crash landing on me and I find myself a bit more weepy now than before, but I have a lot of love and support from family, friends, and our thoughtful group of listeners here on the Forum.
Thank you for bringing smiles to our faces and for allowing us to share the tribute of my dad.

He is still around, K - you just can't take pictures now.
When you need him, talk to him. Ask the questions. You'll get the answers.

Thank you Margo.
You have to tickle Mozilla a few times to get it to work, but it does work.

Ken's right, Kristy -- your Dad's there as long as you think about him.

I've seen the show but need to listen to the audio, something I've not yet been able to do. And I can foget doing this at home w/ 28.8K....
(I know, I live in the dark ages!)
Kristi, speaking as one whose wife has lost both parents in the past few years, you will definitely have lots of DOWN days. Days when you feel like what's the point, you'll cry for no stupid reason and tear your husband a new one for no reason at all. (Well, we know husbands ALWAYS deserve getting a new one torn ;) )
It will get better. And when my wife says her Dad talked to her today... I know that there is a big blossom on the magnolia tree out front...
Dave will talk to you to, just have to know how to hear him. Which I'm quite certain you do.
And you know where to find 8000 +/- pairs of ears to listen. :D

Dave is spot on Kristy... having lost my mum in November last year what he says is how it is up and down like a flamin yoyo... but keep an eye open and you will see and hear him
As a note to this... about 4 months after mum died my computer hard drive totally crashed lost everything that I hadnt saved to disc including some photos of mum that Id taken at parties and such special ones you know... and one in particular... anyway about 2 weeks after I got the computer back up with a new hard drive I was mucking around with my digmal camera setup on here looking at albums and such when theres this file titled "s" just that and it had never been there before on the old hard drive... I had been having some arguments with my elder sis who was the executor of mums will about some things she was doing I didnt agree with... so anyways I opened this "s" file and I tell you what it blew my socks fair off hair stood on end eyes teared and I just walked away... there was one photo of mum in it just one and it was the one in particular I spoke of before this photo was taken by one of the hoons just as mum was glaring at something I had said!!
Now after I had settled down and had another look to make sure of what I had seen I took that pic to be mum telling me to back off my sis with the problem with the estate... I promptly did... emailed Vick right there and then and rang her at the same time tellin her its okay no worries do what you like Im cool...
Next I heard from mum was a couple of weeks ago Id been pretty manicly depressed and didnt know it when I was in the shed muckin about with wood... I just stopped and looked at the stack of her gear sittin in the corner... Id been trying to get my ****e together on what to do stay here where she was in her last 15 or so years to be near her {Im the only one lest here now} or move on to the next phase of my life... now of all the crap Ive got of hers the one thing that was sitting right on top of the top box and so stareing me right in the eye was her old lp album of Doris Day {which she loved} Khe Say ra {sp?} {the "what will be will be" song} the rest of her records where in the bottom of the stack boxed under everything else!!... the top box was a box of nick naks and doilies yet there it was the record she loved so much next to Mario Lanza staring me in the face... and no one had touched them since she passed other than me to put a tarp over them now the other thing with this is that the tarp is gone I cant find it anywhere just gone...
I took that to be mum saying "go move on enjoy your life" and so thats a part of this trip to Kal to set up the framework for us to move on in our lives
Soooo what Im getting at is Dave will be with you be aware of small things and you will hear him from time to time.
Margo no I didnt manage to get it to work... sorry would have loved to have seen it
Anyways take all care and be at peace that hes just over there waitin beyond the horizon

I couldn't get it to work on my computer but I just went into the next room and it worked fine on Gavins. Go figure. If you have trouble try a different machine. Well worth the effort.
