Those Norton people were handin' out all kinds of stuff. Aside from all the sandpaper they were giving away diamond grinder blades, little fish-hook sharpeners, rubber belt cleaning sticks, sanding sponges(two kinds), and micro fiber reusable dry tack cloths.

I had to buy the book, the Le Tonkinois varnish, the pine tar and the back issue of WaterCraft.

And here's the stuff I forgot to put in the first photo:

The painting is by the artist who painted the show poster, Nicola Dixon. www.nicoladixon.com (http://www.nicoladixon.com)

And here's the beautiful cast bronze canoe pole shoe that Bruce Hooke made:

Thanks again Bruce!

I blew all but about a dollar and half of the cash I had in my wallet on a nice Swan drawknife so that was the limit of my loot (aside from lots of invaluable notes from the blacksmithing workshop).

Even Hamiltons didn't have a sheave for my mast so I had to make an Ipe one last night:

And here's a heckofa deal I found yesterday on some clamps:

If you can't see the price tag those 12" bar clamps were 99 cents and the wood screw clamp was $4.99 and yes I bought more of them than show in the picture. I just didn't want to make anyone too envious. :D

Knowing the limits of my self-control in such an environment, I left the wallet in the car and entered the show with $40 cash..... Just enough for two admission tickets and a few Del's lemonades. Otherwise I would've spent hundreds. Books, tools, hardware.... I'd have needed a packmule.

The wife splurged on a goofy little purple doggy-like thing from the Marlinspike Artist's booth. Before we'd even left the show he had a name.... "Splice", of course.
