It's one of Jaime Johnston's (Uncas) nicknames. Comes from an incident this past late summer or early fall. He was tied up at the town dock in Guilford harbor for several days. One day he decided to try his hand at fishing. There were snapper blues jumping out of the water chasing minnows, so it was a pretty safe bet that with any luck at all he'd be able to catch one. So he goes and gets his rig, and baits a hook, and tosses it in the drink. And waits. And waits. Finally one of the local fishermen asks him what he's using for bait that the fish aren't biting.... "Canadian bacon".... Apparently about half a dozen locals almost fell in the harbor they were laughing so hard. Someone took pity on him and gave him some minnows, and he was able to have snapper blues for dinner. I heard this story from a guy who was sitting at the bar about 12 feet from Uncas' bow. The guy had no Idea that I knew Jaime. They're still chuckling about that today down at the docks.... :D

I was looking at an older photo of my self a few years ago, that a friend had taken.
He commented to me that I was always red in the face on every picture, which was alright with me as I had no idea that I was red in the face.

Yes I called the doctor and ask for a check up, and the first thing they do was to check my blood pressure (191 over 103) and boy did I get lectured on eating to much salt, and not relaxing enough.

So I had to cut down on the intake no Canadian Bacon, no top roman, no pizza, watch what the label said as to sodium content, if very small I could eat it.

Then came the lecture on relaxing, his nurse told me to lay on the bed and concentrate on not being able to feel my feet, then the lower legs and knees, and then relax enough that I could not feel my hole body.

So I did this every day for two weeks, went back and check the blood pressure (148 over 75) then he said I had to cut way back on the salt, like none at all off the table and start exercising.

Now I am at a lower pressure on the blood and my face is not red at all.

I would call it passive evasive salt reduction.

Keeps my face from turning RED!!!! smile.gif

The relationship between salt and high blood pressure is probably bogus.

Methinks this thread belongs in "Misc-non-Boat" in any case.

Salt: Keeps me from de-hydrating. ;)

Fat: Keeps my joints from squeeking, thus warding off arthritus. ;)

Eating fish: Enables me to hold me breath longer underwater. ;)

Bacon boy is a live and well and fishing for cod on the cape...Yup..bacon...no bites yet.
Joe...not bad...afraid to make fried eggs I see...either that or ya broke the yokes...and was left with no choice.
Bacon looks okay...not great but okay....
Try adding a bit of cottage cheese to the eggs. instead of any liqyuid you usually ad...milk or water...Adds a great taste/texture.
