I have an offer to buy some dimensional lumber that i will use to rebuild my stern,it is clear spanish cedar,,any thoughts on this/????

A good planking wood and I love the smell. However, it is probably too soft for structural components.

Spanish cedar has been suggested to me as planking material for those pieces of swiss cheese requiring replacement.

well I picked up some spanish cedar and have ripped and planed it for my planks and it is nice stuff,it was stoored poorly out side under wooden doors and i was disapointed when i saw this but upon tearing into the pile the wood was in mostly great shape,i will be going back for more,saddly there wher 2 sail boats up on the hill probubly never too sail again,the larger was a herrshoff but i don't knoow any more abouy it ,it may be advertized in wooden boat mag soon,,ed and frank thanks for your input eric
