A glorious (and much needed) winter break. These are lake trout caught from Temagami Lake in Ontario. The weather was beautiful, as are the fish. The bigger fish is 7.5lbs, the smaller one 6.5lbs. :D

Drool! Trout are an introduced species here and are in trouble because of our long (6yrs) dry, and too warm water. There are fish farms of course and I don't know how thetr'e going.

Yea, it was a great time. The beauty of this lake is that the trout are natural and naturally reproducing, we caught fish from many different year classes which bodes well for them. The catch and posession limit is three, and it probably wouldnt hurt to lower that to two. Also caught were walleye (in 78' of water, on bottom!) whitefish and ling (freshwater cod).
Wow that's amazing! Am i to believe that you just go out on to a frozen lake, cut a hole in the ice, plonk a shed on top and just throw in a line. I thought this only happens in cartoons,

Sincerely speaking, ice fishing is an absolutely fabulous experience. I fish about 100 km south west of Temagami in a provincial park. There are times when I can stand there and not hear a sound or see another person for hours. It is very cleansing!

MMMMmmmmmmm...Yum !
Pardon my ignorance, but obviously here in Australia we don't have the climate for these sorts of activities so i'd like to ask a few questions. Why the shed? why not a tent, and Duke what's the problem with drilling the hole? Infact i've seen these sheds with chimmneys does that mean they have fire heating?

Why not a tent?Lots of these places are semi-permanent and mobile. They get towed onto the lake year after year. The off-ice deadline around here is March 15(beware the Ides and all that).Tents are hard to insulate and get blown around by the wind.
Yes they often have real heat, but it doesn't take much because the space is pretty small. They don't often need fridges. :D

edited to add,
There is no problem drilling the hole. The problem is WHERE to drill it.
