My vote would be for Maine.

Maine's nice and it's fun to talk with potatos in your mouth, but Nantucket Sound has the wind.

Sorry... you've been consigned to Hell... and there's no escape.

Reminds me of the joke about the New Yorkers who founded Chicago - "We loved the dirt and the crime in NY but it just wasn't cold enough."

As a result, you'll fit right in! :D

I was going to say it looks like they are trying to escape the heat.

If the GOP wins, Canada would probably be better!

I came up here 8 1/2 years ago for work. Most of my facilities are on or near the coast. I have been known to drop into Camden/Rockland/Rockport harbors to eat lunch and gratuitously ogle schooners. :D

SWMBO came up here kicking and screaming. Now I couldn't pry her away no matter how hard I tried...

It ain't the flash or porn. It's the drift into an empty, tree lined, previously unvisited cove at the end of a fine sailing day to find it is far prettier than you could have imagined and knowing there isn't enough time in a life to visit every one in Maine.

But I'm getting there.

No, you should re-visit it during what they call "mud season." From what I've seen (only one year) it lasts between two or three months. Of course if you're out in you boat...

Paul, Maine is nice to look at, but it has a lot of grinding poverty not far out of sight. It also should be moved about 20 degrees further south. Have you ever jumped in the ocean up there? At least they don't have alligators.

Have you read "The Beans of Egypt, Maine" by Caroline Shout (sp?)? Washington County might make Mississippi look good.
