I'm seeing a pod right now about 9:00am off Shilshole. Looks like they are traveling south. They are a ways offshore, maybe in about the northbound shipping lanes.

Too far away for pix. It would take a bigger lens than this iPhone has. :)

Still seeing them pretty much in the center definitely traveling south. A couple of big males with their very tall dorsals plus several other pod members. Just rolling, no breaching.

Shipping lanes don't photograph well?

Hey! I live in 'fly-over country' - any water more than a couple of acres is a 'lake'. Cut me some slack!

One of our esteemed Puget Sound members had a thread within the past couple months of some Orca pictures taken from his sail boat. Or maybe it was a row boat? They're a lucky lot to have a resident pod or two in their waters.

I'll throw this one up, from last summer, of a transient pod that came through SE Alaska...

About 9:45, they are approaching Rolling Bay area. Seem to be keeping closer to Bainbridge now. That picture is nice Brian. The ones this morning are probably 3 or 4 miles from my living room so I'm only seeing profiles, even with the binocs.

We've had a huge silver run this year. I bet they're still getting their grub on.

Emergency Request: Send Silvers (frozen okay). Thanks!

I had read Alaska has seen a near-catastrophic drop in their runs the past 3 years; anyone knnow if that's true?

I wish. I was planning to get out there. Had all my salmon gear all out and splayed across my desk for a week even. Unfortunately, I just haven't had the time. I've got lots of fresh, flash frozen halibut and sockeye if you're interested!:D

I don't know about the whole State, or exactly by type, but I was told the salmon run in Sitka was low. This was mentioned as a reason for why the brown bears are still going through the trash cans on our street.
