I have a Westinghouse 37" LCD HDTV LTV-37w2 HD‏

Last night during the Tropical Storm there was a power cut.

Today I turned It ON

TV turns on.
Westinghouse 'W' logo blinks on, then.
Screen goes and stays black.
Channels change.
Sound works.

Any suggestions?

May have been a power surge that fried the chip. Buy a s/h Grundig or B&O. (we still have CRT)

I had that sort of thing happen in a thunderstorm, my insurance company replaced it.

Throw it out and buy a good Japanese product like Toshiba or Sony.

Throw it out and buy a good Japanese product like Toshiba or Sony.

Which are probably built in China, just like the Westinghouse.

You were planning on moving, right? Just buy a used one for now. Oh, and use a surge protector strip to plug them in from now on..
I bought a 17"LCD for the boat and hated it. You couldn't see the picture on the screen if you were not straight in front of it. When the 12V reducer went I gave it away. Now we have a couple of 13" DVD regular ones.
Wait till your moved to invest in a good one I would say.

Did you unplug the tv... Wait 3 mins. Turn on the tv and maybe try restore the menu to factory settings. It maybe a software issue which was interrupted at the startup cycle. Otherwise it becomes an anchor.
