And could case an erruption. It's been dormant for 300 years but may have been activated by last years earthquake and a 6.2 right under the volcano. It seems that their planning has not included volcanic erruptions.
"Fujii said a tremor "greatly increases" the chance of an eruption in a country that has experienced nearly 12,000 earthquakes since the magnitude 9.0 tremor that led to disaster on March 11, 2011."

Beautiful, classical, cone shaped volcanoes tend to be dangerous. By definition they are still active - usually rather active. Mount Mayon in the Philippines is another such - and a regular killer although the name means "beautiful lady":

And 'killer' and 'beautiful woman' aren't so incongruous, are they?
