Verlen designed the Sea Wind, a long distance, expedition decked canoe. He didn't start paddling until his 40's. And by his death Verlen had paddled over 100,000 miles. Verlen is the only man to paddle UP the Mississippi AND the Colorado Rivers Grand Canyon. One epic journey took him through every major drainage system in Canada, the US and then for giggles he circumnavigated South America. A great man, explorer,long distance canoeist, husband, father and inspiration to all.
