Hello, My wife & I live on the southern coast of Australia at a place called OceanGrove,(settled &named after the USA town of Ocean Grove). In September we will be arriving via a cruise ship from London, in Boston. We plan to spend a day or two in Boston and then travel north,up the coast for about 5 days, before returning to Boston. Any ideas on some must sees,do's, etc. We have ideas of going as far as St John, and plan to stay in b&b's.Iknow the question is a bit large but a few ideas will hopefully give an idea on how to plan a worthwhile trip.

I'm a stranger myself to that territorry, but am reading , and can recommend, Douglas Whynott "A Unit of Water, A Unit of Time." It soaks you in the ambiance of Maine boatbuilding at its best.

Next stop would be Boothbay. The WoodenBoat campus is a must see. About three hours north.

Enjoy your trip!

And if you go to Newburyport on your way north from Boston, I'd recommend checking out the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge which is a phenomenal birding area and sits on the edge of the largest saltmarsh in the northeast. Absolutely beautiful. You can drive in and then walk the boardwalks and trails. http://www.parkerriver.org/

I was trying to find Rick Prose's home page, they're up in Boothbay. Have cottages and small boats for rent.

Feel free to call on us if you need anything (well anything within reason, LOL). We're located about 29 miles 385 yards west of Boston.

Have fun!
