I'm leaving for Amsterdam in about 12 hours. Where should I look for some nice wooden boats? I will have a couple of days at the end of the trade show (Audio Engineering Society) to travel around.

Other non-boat related places to go while I'm there? Any good restaurants people recommend?

Thanks,

Noah

Finally check out the Anne Frank Huis (http://www.annefrank.nl/), but do that last, 'cause it's a real downer.

And finally, Amsterdam's Red Light District (http://www.hiptravelguide.com/amsterdam/php/article.php?sid=15) is interesting, but for reasons different than you might think. It's not the vice — legalized prostitition, dope, etc. — that's interesting so much as the tourists come to gape at it. Tour buses come through full of little old blue-haired ladies from Topeka to check out the hookers and the hash houses. Night is the most interesting time to crawl the red light district.

Also check out the Indonesian food available in Amsterdam. It rocks. The dutch ran Java/Indonesia for a good long time and got at least one good thing out of it.
