Who is going to the show in Portland next
March, and who knows about B&B's or reasonably priced motels not too far from the show?
I expect to drive up there from Mystic Ct and will be looking for housing for at least one night.

Can't help you on cheap motels or B&B's. It has been a long time since I have been there.
However, having grown up attached to Mystic Seaport, I suspect you will find the prices competitive.
Good luck...At least it is early so you should get winter rates...Just take your long johns with you.

Carl, I'll be there; there are several good B&B's in and around the Portland area; hotels/motels are cheaper outside of town. Would you like to be in town (Portland) or are the burbs ok?

Suburbs or down on the docks -- all the same to
me. I just want to go to the show, and have some
money left over to buy boat gear for next season.
Suggested motels, etc. welcome.

Ok, couple of quick thoughts:
In town within walking distance to Show are several very nice hotels Portland Regency, Hilton Garden and Portland Harbor Hotel. These will run you about 170 and up. The Hilton 207 780 0780 is actually $130 with AAA and is the closest to the show. Outside of town there are several Comfort Suites/Days Inns within 2-3 miles of Show. Smaller motels like Falmouth Inn 207 781 2120 run around $40 but are real basic. Falmouth wouldn't be bad since you can shoot into town in about five minutes on Rt 88 along the water. I'll keep my eyes open for some deals and post on here.

Heck...I told you the prices would be about the same as one would find in Mystic.
Check the internet for B&B's.

I'd have you stay here again, Carl, but the house will be pretty full. Last time Mary and the kids were away, this time they'll be here and I think Hugh and his family will be here too! I do hope to have everyone over for peanut soup and chinese dumplings, though. Hopefully the Elf will be done and I'll be thinking about setting up the building form for Eun Mara.

No problem Steve. You have been more than kind, and I don't think we should kick our your family to make space for me. Also, good chance that a local sailmaker (yes, we have one on Block Island, and what's more he is a good one) may be coming to the show as well, so will be looking for multiple spaces. As for the soup and dumplings, count me in. I know how good a cook you are. (Why don't you forget about boatbuilding -- anybody can do that -- and open a restaurant. Now, that takes talent.)
