View Full Version : I recall being able to look at, online, old classified ads in WB

but I can't find that function. I'm trying to find the advertisement put in WB classifieds a few years ago by Henry (?) Davis (WB's neighbor to the north) for his Bangor Packet. I believe he had it for sale for $2K or so? Is that right?

Thanks, RB. I'm afraid our digital back issues don't go back that far.

Yet.

But we're working on it. Be patient.

Best, Carl

Thanks for checking here, Carl. Patience it is.

I wonder then what I was looking at when I found it online, and where if not on the WB site? It was a web page that had 'photographs' of the actual classifieds pages with my search words (Bangor Packet) highlighted in yellow.

I suspect if was when we had about five years of digital issues available.

Believe me, we're working on a friendly solution.

This may help:

http://archive.org/web/web.php a.k.a. "The Wayback Machine".

in the searchbox (after http://) put (what else?) www.woodenboat.com (http://www.woodenboat.com) and hit enter.

You will be given a series of years across the top of the page with the density of the bar graph indicating the number of "hits" made... select the one you think closest to your time frame, select a month and date and see what you can find.

If nothing else, you'll waste at least a hour stumping thru pages and articles.

Lotsa fun and a really great tool to have in your vest pocket.

It IS a bit limited, tho....
