He hasn't posted since July 12...long sailing vacation? Should be good for a nice voyage tale when he gets back.

Well, I hope it's because he's too busy playing. But, my semi-educated guess is he just got tired of the negative postings. There are better things to do than become embroiled in arguements.

I doubt it, Scot. I've never known a lawyer to avoid an argument.

This forum, like it or not, has grown to the size of a small town, and has alot of the same characteristics. You should see the town meetings in my town. According to the history of our town, it's been the same since there were only a few hundred residents. Fist-fights, name-calling...everything you can imagine, just short of murder.

There is still a great deal of valuable information flowing back and forth here, despite the occasional spats.

There are limits, though, and in a few cases those limits were exceeded. I've kept my mouth shut about this, but no more. The F word and insults belong someplace else.

Scott, you're a well-respected link to our sponsor and my vote is for you to stick around.

Never did care much for Four Letter words either as a youngun' nor as an adult ( assumption I are one, there ).
But compared to some of the other on-line venues I have attended, the majority of the time in Forums OTHER than Miscellaneous, things are quite civil. Keep in mind that we are figuratively a bunch of folks sittin' 'round the pot bellied stove down at the end of the pier in some fellas shack and just BS'ing and swapping tales and learned stuff. It is supposed to be fun and that other stuff IMOOP doesn't belong here nor would the instigators of that sort of negative poop, last long in that shack at the end of the pier. Might wind up in the water or worse, ya folla?
As far as Scott Rosen is concerned I do hope that nothing negative has entered his life. But with the papers full of the pending reform of the Bankruptcy laws I can imagine a rush bye some to file before it is too late. If the Congress can ever agree just what the hell they are reforming, that is. <insert big grin here>

I'm with you - Scot, Dave, Rich. Small towns don't have to be nasty.

I'm figuring he's either up to his eyeballs in work, or he and his family are enjoying the summer doing a bit of cruising.

Scot, you've got my vote yo take some of these folks out to the woodshed for a little heart-to-heart talk.

What Ed said (except for the part about masticating...I don't approve of that sort of thing).

I try to masticate at LEAST 2-3 times a day. Sometimes projects and work get in the way. When that happens, I go all out in one big session! smile.gif smile.gif
ROTFLMAO :D :D

Hear, Hear!! Trolls are tiresome, and predictable. Of course, on this forum, we have a higher class of troll... :D (Except for...well, never mind)

Agreed... now Rich mate hows it going with that boat of yours??? Ed you got the camera and site up and working yet??

End of the day we are all here for one thing... the boats... Misc has a tendency of getting up our noses and some of whats said shouldnt be said in the worst bar in the lands... but is... at those times is when someone pipes in and whacks em around the ears... mostly the posts are fairly polite compared to some of the places Ive been... if they get over the top someone ALWAYS gives the poster a bit of a nudge to get it right.. eh Ed mate! :D

Scot as the moderator has as he has done in the past the right to just rip a particularily nasty post out... he doesnt do it often but he does retain the right to... negativity is a part of life... no sweat I think Scots just busy is all... its his old man Im wonder about havent heard a mutter from him in ages

Take it easy

I miss Scott Rosen, too - and quite a few others from the "old gang".

But Donn is right. The Forum has grown very much larger over the past year, and the mood has changed. This is inevitable, and no bad thing in many ways. Cosy clubs, which this used to be, can be very intimidating and elitist at their worst (and great fun at their best smile.gif ). I used to reckon there were no more than 50 to 60 active members when I first started posting here (active meaning regular posting members on just about every thread, rather than lurkers).

I hope Scott is out sailing and having a great time - we miss ya, you great big Mr Smoothy, you . . .

What Ed said & Scot is getting pretty close to the mark. I'll have to say hat I don't even bother with a lot of the stuff in MISC anymore. I guess we've got the separate the wheat from the chaff here too. ;)

BEWARE!!! Too much mastication and you'll grow hair on your tongue.

And, where is Leggett?

Actually it's looking to me like things have been getting more civil around here lately rather than less. If you go over to Miscellaneous right now you'll see that there's only one really active thread that has descended into nastiness. The rest are pleasant discussions about everything from fishing to pilot whales to boat shops, and the longest running thread is a list of jokes. I think a lot of us have learned that the best way to deal with people who want to start fights is to not rise to the bait. The post labeled "Brilliant" is a good example. I was very tempted to respond with a counter-argument but fortunately others got there first and basically made it clear that they really didn't want another fight. Once I saw their responses I was reminded that I really don't enjoy fights either so I kept my counter arguments to myself. So, I think the majority of us are learning how to avoid perpetuating these fights...unlike a war, a fight takes two (or more) people...

Norm, I was wondering about Legget this morning. I don't think we've heard from him since shortly after that forest fire fighting plane (water bomber?) went down about a month ago?
