I've never put in this much in any other forum, so I don't have any comparison

Until the election is over I will be spending most of my allowable internet time on the bikeforums. Much friendlier attitude outside of the "41".

Considering that most forums are dying and this one has a regular broad based collection of wing jobs, parolees, 12 steppers and Obama campaign plants - it is a great place to rest a cluttered mind. This is a rare space of internet real estate. Moreover there is no other place like what is above our decks here. Quite special - with knowledge, support and friendship.

- I do miss those who have passed or moved on. I still hope the next great thread is from one of our missing friends.

I love this forum. I spent a good part of the day yesterday upstairs reading about skin on frame boat-building techniques.

Or what.

"Best" - is a notion for fourteen year olds.

growing up is over-rated, and thankfully thus far, optional. . .

You probably noticed, it never settled down after the 2009 election. Even when they had the Oval Office and both houses of Congress, it was still bad.

We're all much more grown-up than that.

I didn't know this, but it makes sense, with so many people focused on facebook. I suspect the strength of this forum comes from the wooden boat fixation, but it attracts some pretty interesting folks as well. I find facebook a good way to keep up with those friends and family members who use it, but not a good way to meet new people. I suppose there are tricks for that, but I find this place pretty stimulating, so I haven't bothered to learn them.
