I'm getting old....

I wouldn't have had any interest in these cars twenty years ago, but I'm really starting to hanker for one. My three favorites:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zehc5ryVDU0/T2DlyhD4phI/AAAAAAAAAAk/WG12-XdOzWE/s1600/1955_Imperial.jpg

1955 Chrysler Imperial--I like all of the 1950-era Chrysler products, at least until they got fin happy in the latter part of that decade. The 1955 and 1953 Imperials and the 1955 DeSotos are my favorites of those cars.

1963 Cadillac Coupe DeVille--I like the '63 and '64 Cadillacs the best, both the coupes and the sedans...maybe the only car with fins that I like.

1956 Lincoln Mkll--I'm not much of a Lincoln fan, but I do like this car a lot.

Has anyone on the forum owned any of these cars? What were your impressions? Any other land yacht fans out there?

I like the Chrysler

I love that 1955 Imperial--it would be my first choice if money wasn't a factor. I also like the 1953 model, but it doesn't compare to the '55 model...

I saw one of these today, not black though, the one I saw was more of a champagne color. The trailer was done a little differently, it used the front and back end off of a `59. Similar to the red one at the bottom, but I can't say if it had a working hood and trunk. I wish I could have had a longer look but it was heading the wrong way while I sat at a light.

I was down in Lake of the Ozarks country last weekend and I got a ride in 1959 Cadillac. Bigger inside than my first three apartments....

Go for it, Jeff. If you are going to buy something dreadful to drive and impossible to afford the gas for, do it with wretched excess and get a Packard!

I love the prewar Packards, and the 120 is one of my favorites. Not much for the postwar Packards though....

I'd go back a bit further, pre war, 1935. Given that money was no object of course.

There is no other land yacht but a Decoliner. Two places to steer. a full cabin, kitchen and potty.

"Dreadful to drive" is also in the eye of the beholder....

1978 Lincoln Mark V Diamond Jubilee, made only this one year to celebrate Ford's 75th. This is my Sunday "go to church" car

It was an available picture. I agree. The more cylinders, the merrier but a V8 will do.

My granddad drove Chryslers and Lincolns, but I was a sucker for the Hudson Hornet:

I drove a Mercedes 600 "Der Grosser" for a few years. That's what I call grace with pace!

I just love those headlights and taillights.

You could take a Caddy to Chick-fil-a, but let's not think about that....
