A nice parable. smile.gif I think it stands on its own, even without attribution to Einstein, which is good, because according to Snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com/religion/einstein.asp) , it was not Einstein who came up with it.

A worthy thought, none the less.

Someone wise. ;) I dunno, either.

Snopes doesn't always give you the full facts, it just says "yea" or "nay" for the "urban legends" it has in its collection. I get lots of quotes in my email from people who forward me inspirational pieces, but I've become somewhat jaded over the years as to believing the authorship, hence I check snopes almost automatically when I read something that seems too good to be true.

As I said, I like the story, even if it wasn't Einstein. smile.gif

Snopes was notorious for perhaps the most famous troll in the history of the Interne. Some people were discussing the latest Star Trek movie and he wrote that he was tired of the scientific errors in the movie. The example he gave was the Enterprise moving into space dock, and casting a shadow, "because we all know objects don't cast shadows in space." This triggered a thread that lasted hundreds of posts.

Barbara Mikkelson nee Hamel married David in 1996 (I believe it was '96) and in 1997 they started the snopes.com Website as a for-profit business. Barbara does most of the work since David has a day job. She's smart and diligent, and has a pretty good sense of humor. I'm glad for her that she has made it Big on the Internet.

Barbara rarely makes mistakes when it comes to ULs, but remember that she's really one of us and does not bring truth down from Mt. Sinai on graven tablets.

I know this is a trick statement, but let me be the sucker who asks since when does a shadow require air? Look at just about any photo of the moon landings you'll see plenty, and the LEM didn't use floodlights like SpaceDock did. Ah, to be a filmmaker. There's no reality like film reality!

This reminds me of the guy who told me excitedly about going to some theme park and seeing the real bell tower from Back to the Future!

If God does exists, I bet he sails a really nice wooden boat, never is becalmed nor overwhelmed by a beam-on breaking wave ! smile.gif
