No. An election is not a referendum on the guy in office, but a choice between alternatives. If Mr Obama is reelected, he'll do certain things. If Mr. Romney is elected, he'll do a quite different set of things. Presidential candidates when elected almost always do (or try to do) more or less what they said they'd do during the campaign.

Really, Keith, isn't that a little naive? Read my lips.....We seek no wider war....I'll cut the deficit in my first term...unsw

Joe is merely crediting the quote to the person who said it.

I suggest Rum Pirate would be better off following Denzil Douglas.

Really, Keith, isn't that a little naive? No , I don't think so at all. It doesn't work 100% of the time, of course, and unexpected events outside the president's control can change things dramatically, but in general it's pretty accurate. Most of the time, if you take them at their word, you won;t be very surprised.

You must be pretty disappointed in Pres. O-Bomb-A then!

Not at all. He's a long way from perfect, but overall I'm mostly OK with what he's done.

Your easy to please when you want to be it seems.

Perhaps I have different priorities than you do.

But again, every election is a choice between two (or more) alternative sets of policies, two possible futures.

Gordon's Son: Batman? Batman! Why is he running, Dad?
Commissioner James Gordon: Because we have to chase him.
Gordon's Son: He didn't do anything wrong.

Not a bit disappointed in Barack Obama am I..

But I'm extremely disappointed in a republican congress acting like spoiled, rude adolescents.

Not surprised, mind you - but disappointed, none-the-less.

One would suggest that you always investigate the achievements and activities of various people before you make recommendations.
