Welcome to the world of Citizens United, along with some other decsiions of this court.

MOre and more I am convinced we should select our reps like we select jurors, at least insofar a congress is concerned.

This is going to be a fascinating election. I'm not optimistic, but I hope money won't be the deciding factor, although it could be. The biggest advantage Obama has is Romney.

It is not hard to show Romeny in context speaking to the latino group and support the Dream Act and show him a few short months back promising to veto the Dream Act.

There are literally dozens of similar flip flops and pandering, and the ad can end with a cerfitication of factual accruacy and state nothing was taken out of context.

These ads will work well with the base and the shrinking "middle". I wonder how they might play to the Fox viewer. Imagine, for example, just the recent order on immigration Obama put in place, McConnell waiting for Romney's opinion, and all the opportunities Romney has had to answer as to what he'd do with that policy while working on his long term plan and NOT answering the question.

I wonder if it is possible by putting such commercials on the Fox network if some of their viewers will wonder about the facts that Fox gives them.

This thread title is clear evidence of the regressive habit of reducing stories to the lowest common denominator, and putting emphasis where it is not wanted.

As it is illegal to accept foreign campaign money from non-US citizens, the thread title would have been more honest, accurate, and non-trolling to have stated Obama Taps Overseas American Donors.

Now just go away. "These proceedings are closed".

Why should American citizens currently living abroad not contribute to political campaigns in the US if they wish? Is there anything wrong with that?

Obama refused federal money in 2008 to avoid the restrictions on raising and spending campaign funds. McCain foolishly accepted the restrictions and the federal money. Neither candidate will be stupid enough to let the government restrict their fund-raising or spending this time around. This election will break all previous records for spending. And many big donors will contribute to both sides so they will have a say in how things get done no matter who wins. So this election is already bought and sold. Once again big money will be the winner.

Sure. But it is completely legal to troll for money from American expats.

Mr. Adelson, the Vegas casino tycoon, vowed he would pop for $100 million to make certain Obama is defeated. You ain't going to see that kind of zeal from a smart left-winger like George Soros. Or anyone else on the left for that matter.

Like I said, all restraint is off...... the smart money buys a position on both sides. Thereby guaranteeing THEY win.....
