"Pagan" only applies to those not of the dominant theology.

Worth a thread eh?

That'd be infidel, surely? Pagan applies to the previous dominant religion.......especially if that religion didn't write down its theology?

Might be worth a thread but maybe not right now.

Infidel is specific to one ideology, pagan is used by another.
Infidel is not specific as to whether other gods are involved, pagan is specifically about "not our god".

OK, I checked the dictionaries. The definitions are not so black and white, and have probably moved with time.

Carry on.

Nothing wrong with Pagan, just a different view. No less evidence to support it than what the happy clappers believe!
As for "Infidel", I always thought that was pretty much a pejorative term used by one zealot to describe another zealot from a different religion that was so terrible that they both shared the same god, half the prophets and a lot of the ideas.
Seriously weird.
Kids in a playground arguing about who's pretend friend is bigger and would win in a fight!:arg

I have never ever read of Christians using the word infidel, so was surprised by Websters. Pagan and heathen yes, but not infidel.
