Me too!

Gonna find a big arse movie theatre (chicks dig the old English spelling) while down south, and take the youngin for some serious popcorn munching!

Brian, what's the big trip this year for the family when you get home?

Not sure, it got a 74% rating . . . not enough to spend $30 per head on to go see.

I've heard the acting, effects and filming are awesome but the screenwriting and plot were kinda lame. I'll probably see it anyway.

Well . . . I take it back, my kid wants to see it so we're leaving in 5. I'll let you know how it was.

Yoinks! To think I flinch when the person behind the counter asks me for $13.00.

Going to the WBS, Margo's EBS, and Washington DC for a few days.

Keeping it scaled down a bit, and no long road trip.

Going with my son the first chance I get this week.

It cost me $4.50 to see an American movie in a high-grade theatre in Asia last week. How come its $13 in the US and even more in Oz to see the same movies?

We can also buy pirated copies of new releases here in the 'Stan for $2.50USD. Quality varies... greatly!

Yeah... plenty of pirated stuff available in parts of Asia (I haven't seen it in Malaysia).... but I'm talking official, new release cinemas in Kuala Lumpur.

$10 here. Unless you go to the IMAX theater 30 mins away.

For $5.00 I can see new movies in the local repertory theater but they don't stay for long, 2 or 3 days, so you really need to keep and eye on what's playing. The usually run the bigger movies anywhere from a week to month after they leave the larger cinemas.

The IMAX here sells a year long season pass for $48.00, all the movies you can watch. Lots of Hollywood stuff but the bulk of what they show is Nat Geo and it's like.

...well, just back from seeing it. Fine cast; stunning visuals; big themes. Screenplay? Some big holes in it for me. Worth seeing? Yes. As classic as Alien? No.

I think you are wrong in your $13 assessment, Norman. Avatar was worth every penny to see in a theatre as was Titanic.

Yeah, and in its genre niche, The Avengers was up there: no money wasted.

I'll see Prometheus, prolly even with Herself rather than just one of the kids. But She's gonna be severely disappointed if the gimmicks aren't there mostly to serve the plot and screenwriting. She's the only person I know who utterly hates "cut to the car chase," and instead will fast-forward through the car chase to get back to the plot.

I'm thinking if you had a pie chart of all the Bilge members who watched those movies, it would be nothing but an empty pie plate.

I give it a 75%. If you like the Alien mythology then you need to watch it in the theater, otherwise, rent it.

Saw it last night with my offspring. Impressive visually but the laughable contrivances and inconsistencies in the plot line really ruined my suspension of disbelief. I am willing to indulge all kinds of fantasy as long as it is internally consistent; Prometheus is not. Could be the worst film Ridley Scott has made.

So I saw it and thought it was pretty good. I had no expectations of it being equivalent to the original Alien. Curiously, I found the violence and the horror to be a little less extreme than I was expecting. It certainly wasn't as gut wrenching or suspenseful as Alien was. I think it was an okay resurrection of the franchise.

How was the popcorn?

I want a big screen, and good popcorn. And, my daughter to see it with.

Paul Pless

The popcorn was good, extra butter you know! Plus it was really hot and humid that day and movie theaters have kick ass air conditioning systems. . .
