Looking for "Teal" - Hubert Johnson, built 1939, Bay Head, NJ. Sold to Sylvester Smith in 1947. In 1982, sold by Arnie Gays Yacht Sales, Annapolis.

43' sloop, Geiger design.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Salth,

Once lost out a second place finish to a TEAL at the '80 or '81 Newport Classic Yacht Regatta by a very small margin. Wondering if that was the one. As I recall she was sloop rigged of that length, with a dark hull. Very fine boat. Could it be the same?

It is possible Todd. I am actually doing this research for an older friend, so I don't know all the details. At the time it was sold, it had a white hull. One note that you may remember - the boat in question has a very small transom. Does that ring a bell? Thanks for responding.

Yup, small sweet butt, had a good view of it in that race. I do recall it was sailed by a group of older sailors who were quite composed and relaxed in the stiff breeze. They seemed to know their boat.
