The place reminds me of those "Wall of Death" sideshows from years ago.

Crazy start. Webber leads. Looks like rain.

skuthorp
05-27-2012, 07:21 AM
Usual procession now, only passing action was one competitor cutting off a painted corner. Stewards may do something, or not.
(and they have)

The Bigfella

Aussies in 1st and 12th at present. How are the Americans doing?

Paul Pless
05-27-2012, 07:56 AM
Starting to rain, Vettel in the lead and the only driver to have not pitted yet. Red Bull is gonna look like geniuses.

Pity they hadn't left both out there.....

As I intimated it was the smartest tactician who won ON THE DAY. Why F1 (FIA) and drivers association moans abt circuit safety and then sanctions this travesty of horrors is beyond me.

It would seem to me that barring crashes, it's a procession not a race.

Sadly nobody covers the GP2 and GP3 Series races - where there is real action.

This thread just gave me a real WTF moment. I haven't lost a whole day drinking since University. Then I got up to check my calendar. That didn't help any. The lights came on when I checked the date on the opening post. Whew! Looking forward to qualifying, starts at around 14:00 here this afternoon.

The OP bumped it up to try and prove he's not just a Nascar fan.

After going through a bunch of youtube nascar video's tonight, I feel kinda scuzzy all over.

The two sports are as different as night and day.

Hope you enjoy the race!

I'd be happy if Raikkonen takes another second place and becomes points leader based on consistency.

I'd better figure out the TV setup here... my host is setting off on a trip up to the Tibet border (Thailand, Laos, China). The TV is normally running things like the Dakar or the Ertzberg.

Phil would normally ride one of his KTM 990's on a trip like that, but the guy he's going with has loaned him an F800 BMW. I asked him his impression "like a sewing machine... no character. It was one of the bikes I had on my list to try, but I found my Super Enduro before I got that far. Right choice it seems.

.... as for the GP. I've always liked watching Monaco. Its got plenty of interest, but yes, qualifying has more importance here than anywhere else on the calendar

..., but yes, qualifying has more importance here than anywhere else on the calendar

Normally and historically true - but this year with Mercedes combination of blistering (sometimes literally) one-lap pace and hideous tyre degradation problems, along with Ferrari's (Alonso's) ability to make places off the start line - the first five minutes could be interesting.

Which lap do we get the (first) safety car?

I haven't got sound on the big screen... at present anyhow... what's the go with all the crud on the road where Sutil crashed?

More crashes too. Grosjean was looking great, until he stuffed it into the wall.

Paul Pless

F1 on NBC at 7:30 and replayed at 10:30.

Jim Nabors sings Back Home Again in Indiana at 12:00 and the first pace laps of the Indianapolis 500 are scheduled for 12:12 on ABC.

Thanks PP, is that their regular broadcaster or is it just for Monoco? Used to be Speed or BBC, when I watched regularly.
No cable up here, but Sat is available... if it's not part of some special package, I'd be tempted to sign up... almost :D
