Ebay plans for Aquarama (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1197&item=5921205490&rd=1)

Anybody ever heard of these people, if the plans are any good, etc?

WoodenBoat #114 has a complete write-up on the design and construction of Riva's. The Aquarama Special is 28'9" overall, the smallest Aquarama was 26'4", so these plans are off.

They claim the plans are suitable for building models of any size???.... Even to handle full size twin 350 HP Chevy’s and 50 MPH??

The real Riva's topsides were hot-molded of three layers of 7mm mahogany, no plywood, it could not form the shape. The bottoms were done with two sheets of custom full length ply.

All the best, Tad

I am very interested in this. I keep hoping plans for Lyman's will be available also someday. These prices seem fairly inexpensive too. Will you please let us know what you think of your plans after you get them Chuck? ;)

Hi Tad...
I was especially interested in the 32-34 foot model for another reason...however..I did find some notes that said the first one was actually a modification of another boat in the 25-26 foot range, and then models increased in size upwards a bit...I was curious enough to think that they could be cold molded and was sorta looking at it as a mental exercise.....

I also discovered this site a few days ago.
I've ordered the Chris Craft Riviera plans.

I was interested because we made a complete set of CAD drawings based on the Glen-L Riviera.
It took me a lot of time, so I'm curious to see if a set of plans for $55,- is equal.

Martien

I received them a few weeks ago (or was it longer?).
First impression was very good, but I didn't find the time to study them. I will try to do it within a few weeks. I will post my opinion.
I bought the Riviera and the Barrelback plans.
Regards,

Martien.

Martien is probably more accustomed to seeing metric mesaurements than I am. smile.gif

But I think one day, I'll be able to build a reasonable replica of an Aquarama.
