Does anybody know where I can obtain complete sets of plans for building mahogany runabouts designed by John L. Hacker.
I'm particularly interested in His designs in the 18'- 26' length range from the early 1920's to the late 1930's.
One picture of a replica I've just come across on the web is a 1922 22' Gentleman's Runabout/ racer called "Suzette", I'm very interested in obtaining the plans for this boat, its similar to the Nelson Zimmer "Palm Beach" Design.I'm not sure but I think the plans were published in "Motor Boating" magazine in the 1920s-30s if anybody has a copy. Also any Hacker designed Utilitys from 1930-1950 in the 18-24' Range.I'd welcome any help in locating any John Hacker Runabout/Utility/Hydroplane plans from the eras and length range I've specified.
Thanks.

Hello Hugo,

I can't help you directly, but you might want to look at those sites and maybe contact them directly.
The Hacker name was bought by a fellow in the lake George area, who builds replicas of the Hacker boats, I don't have his name right now but I will try to find it for you.
There is also the registry published by ACBS, The Antique and Classic Boat society inc, it might have someone registered with the boat you are looking for.

Go here: 43 boats (http://media5.hypernet.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=002657).
The book has at least 6-7 Hacker runabout plans, with lines, offsets, building instructions (for one already with boatbuilding skills), etc.

Hugo, I've got plans for Hacker's 18-foot "Flapper" runabout that I'd be pleased to make copies of and send to you. I obtained these from Texas Dory Boat Plans many years ago (owner of Texas Dory now deceased). These plans are of the same "How to Build" series as Lorraine, Suzette, Marybelle, and others and are of sufficient detail to build a model as I previously built a 1/4 scale model of Lorraine so I'm sure you could build a full size boat from them but this will take above average building skills. Also, you might want to contact the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia at 800-565-6846 or 757-591-7782.....they have an extensive collection of Hacker drawings and were cataloging them a couple of years ago. I've been trying to find copies of Hacker's "My Sweetie" or "My Darling" to build a radio controlled gas powered model but no luck so far.....let me know if you want the Flapper plans.
