A cute idea, but I hope he has somehow sealed that surface, or that thing is going to split on him.

The shavings would make good firestarter his stove or fireplace...

That was all sorts of coolness. I laughed when he put the calipers on it. :)

Hate to say this........there's a chap not far from here that makes lampshades from veneer.

Bit less work.......

and been less wasteful to bend a sheet of veneer around a form?how much do you think that log cost him? I bet it was free. . .

There's a guy in Kentucky that does cowboy hats in a similar manner. Not cheap though.
