So I went and did what I said I would never do, buy a big boat.
And it seems to be the best thing I have done in years.

Introducing Leketoy, a Monk designed Roughwater 35http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh571/Leketoy/Leketoy-1.jpg

Thanks to all who helped me here with encouraging words or steering me to the right people. Lew pointed me to Rodger Morris who did a great job surveying her. That was very reassuring. I am still learning my way around having a boat that I can't put on the top of the car, but so far its been a great journey.

It seems to have a capacious interior. Are you going to invite us to a party?:)

Nice looking boat, congratulations.

Beautiful! And that's coming from a strictly sail and oar guy!

A nice boat.
I've put that design on the list.

Wishing you good oil pressure,
Jim

Thank you all. I am quite pleased. And I am only a bit surprised that after a lifetime as a sailor I bought a powerboat. I was talking to a friend who is also a lifetime sailor. He went from Seattle to Glacier Bay some years ago. He told me that he was under power 80 percent of the time and 90 percent of the distance.

I do intend to carry a sailing dinghy so I will get my sailing in.

She's a floating palace— very nicely set up for keeping out of the rain, drizzle, mist, etc.

The reality is much better looking than the drawing. Nice boat!

I will be putting a boat or two on the pilothouse roof, but a car....Nope

Not enough deck space for a motorcycle and sidecar. I looked.

Not interested in one of Jay Benford's cool floating garages as I don't live aboard:

When people express surprise at this sailor building a motorboat I reply "sailing is a beautiful and poetic thing to do, but it ain't a way to get anywhere". Tongue in cheek of course but unless we are "cruising in Serrafyn" we have to get there and back while we can. Again, happy cruising. Rick
