Can't the Coast Guard do something about overloading a boat?

If it's over 26 feet, there's no capacity plate...

Some of these fishing charters carry way too much beer.

I can't imagine fiberglass decks are built to take the impact of 400lbs of flubber, accelerating fast enough to leap out of the water and land over 3' over the water line.

There's got to be 6 tons of fat sitting on the decks.

Isn't there a California law that says seals can park their butts on docks and they can't be run off? I wonder if the boat owner is out of luck here, at least until he can catch them all out fishing....

Nice of the skipper to leave out a towel for his guests. That kind of hospitality get will get him the seal of approval.

Yep. Hardly an endangered species, either, that's for sure. Seal lions can totally destroy a marina or a boat in pretty short order.

One of the fanciest marinas in San Francisco was totally destroyed when the sea lions moved in. At first, one or two hung out on the docks and the tourists thought they were cute. Then two or three more. Then the rest of them discovered the place. The tourists still think they are cute, but do notice the smell. (Like a stockyard with a fishy finish.) The sailors don't think they're cute at all.

Nice house flag.

Must translate in Seal-ese to... "thirty minutes after my ship set sail,
she put up a flag and my house began to whale..."

Looks like Newport Beach California. They have had a few boats sunk at great cost to the owner by exactly what you see in the picture. People have tried to put up all sorts of baracades some work others usually dont. The sealions are a protected species and are over running the place.

Considering that someone had to build these Marina facilities and at what cost to maintain them.............and can't use them or disturb/remove the seal Lions so they can.......in my opinion it would be better to remove these marine docks/wharves entirely so the seal Lions have to find somewhere else to go to.

Then there wouldn't be any marinas. And no one would build a new one, well I'm not sure building a new marina in CA is feasible right now anyway.
