Someone whom shall remain unidentified for their own protection, has told me that puppies need IAMS or Science diet fancy food.... I always used plain old Purina puppy chow.... Puppy in question is 12 weeks old.....
What's the poop? (So to speak :D)

What's the poop? (So to speak :D)Depends how much you want to spend. Although there is a minimum level of quality and nutrition and brand integrity that I don't like to fall below. On the open forum, I can't make a recommendation. Check your pm's.;)

There were dogs long, long, before IAMS.

But you can always admire the marketing.

IME the poop is if you use cheap dog food (generally) you will get, well, a whole lot more poop. A lot of fillers and fluff in the worse of the lot. We go sort of middle of the road for dogs young and old big and small and stick with Nutrimax large breed adult and their puppy food when they's younguns. Bottom line read the ingredients.

That's how we found Nutri actually, several dogs ago one of ours had a kidney go south and we almost lost her as the other kidney was comprimised too. Vet insisted on low protein chow which he graciously sold us for north of a hundred bucks a bag. After a lot of label reading, found a Nutri brand with virtually identical nutritional numbers and went with that for a third the price. She did well and lived till about 12 yrs old.

This is what our critters eat. I don't think you can get this south of the border though.

A guy I know had to do six months in a minimum security prison here in Washington. He said most of the offenders were finishing up much longer sentences they had already served in the real prisons. The majority were related to crystal methamphetamine addictions. Long story short, they talked non-stop on how to make the stuff or more importantly, how to get certain ingredients that are hard to acquire legally these days. A favorite was to somehow soak Purina dog food designed for older dogs and somehow extract the key ingredient. No doubt a psychostimulant will get that old dog up and going! For a while anyways.
