Am partly inspired to post after following some of the discussion on the Munroe 'Presto' update and the mention of an 'NACA foil c/board'. Have also seen reference in a number of magazine articles as a means of improving performance, particularly upwind.

I am considering as one of my projects in modifying a 14' clinker(lapstake) dinghy from the current pretty crude aliminium 5mm plate dagger board to a c/board. The idea is to max the permance a little and maybe epoxy some lead into it also to make her a little stiffer.

Now I am familiar with NACA aerofoils from my aviation days but where do you get the details on the right foil shape for this type of application ? And is it likely to be worth the effort ?

Google "NACA Foils" for a start, or "Foil Keels". I've uncovered quite a lot of information; am engaged in a taking-much-too-long project to incorporate assymetric foil leeboards on TRUE NORTH.

One point, a foil section centerboard will require a wider case (or trunk) than a flat board does. You might want to go with a thinner than optimum foil.
