Tough molding

Dam this molding is tough getting up....1962 choeylee Lapworth 50.
The port side molding at the base of the cabin top was easy to get up and screws remain...starboard side has stainless steel wood screws which we can easily get out but trying to get the molding up is a different animal....
I guess some one at some point tried to fix a leak and used some type of epoxie. Its brown, too hard to get sharp putty knief under it or through it. Any suggestions?

Try heating an old knife to see if it can melt its way in. Start low temp and crank it up in stages.
