    . . . and twenty one

Today campaigning in New Hampshire Texas Gov Perry called on listeners over twenty one to get out to vote for him, and those younger to work hard to persuade their elders.

And those that are twenty-one should put down that beer?

Ah, a New Zealander, even one who knows that in most of our states the drinking age is 21, might not know that nationally the voting age has been 18 for most of Perry's life.

A New Zealander also might not catch the racist phrase I was alluding to in the thread title. That's just having fun at Perry's expense for his ranch's name.

And one of those crazy politicians thinks we have 57 states !!! Imagine that..... only an idiot would think we have 57 states. That person would be totally unfit to be President. Only a person who was part of a "cult of ignorance" could possibly vote for a moron who believed we have 57 states !!!

But voting age was 21 during his important formative years? At least he remembers stuff.

It's a funny soundbite. But not much more.

The first election he could have voted in under the 21 age rule happens to have been the first one that let the 18 year olds in. Hard to forget.

Back then in New York the drinking age was 18. I don't know about Texas.

WHY would it be memorable for Perry? HE wasn't the 18yr old getting to vote.......

Jeeeeez, I'm sick of "gotcha" politics..... and I just made that Obama 57 state crack to show you how ridiculous it all is. I don't really hold that misstatement against Obama, either. After campaigning constantly a person could forget their own name. Got any real issues to discuss?

Perry makes great claims of polticial involvement from an early age. Got it from his dad. If he was unconscious of 18 year olds getting the vote . . .

maybe he's just given up on the 18-21 demographic actually voting for him? haha

The way that we do it here is the person with the most electoral votes is thereby qualified to be President. that's it. That is the only popularity contest that there is. Your opinion is worth one electorate vote. One.
