I'm not a big motorhead, but I think if I were going to spend $50,000+ on my ride, I'd go to the 4 wheel equivalent of Orange County Choppers and get a one off.
XKE rear axle, the aluminum V-8 they put in Morgans, normally aspirated, five speed manual, hard top, cycle fenders, fog lights, wire wheels, aluminum or composite coachwork, maybe a birdcage frame, I dunno.
Any other ideas?

Big difference between a $50,000 dream car and a $350,000 dream car . . . What sort of budget does your dream have?

Aero Morgan Coupes not rare enough for you? I've never seen one that wasn't on a racetrack.

And I'm sure there would be a nightmare of bumper, pollution, etc. bull**** to wade through.Nope, they sell them here in the United States, about $80,000 I believe.
For a really humorous little tale, hopefully Gareth will chime in with his story of making it to the top of the Morgan waiting list.:d

Big difference between a $50,000 dream car and a $350,000 dream car . . . What sort of budget does your dream have?I'm warning Katherine now, my impending mid-life crisis is gonna be two things: British Racing Green, and a doozie!
I don't dream about cars anymore. A few decades of 40-60,000 miles a year burned it out of me. I have what will hopefully be the last ride I buy myself; an '86 F-250 with a 6.9 liter diesel with just over 42K miles. Old enough to have wing-vents and no computers, and new enough to be comfortable.

That's a nice looking 25 year old truck!
Mine never look that good when I trade or sell them. I keep them in good mechanical condition, but I never shy from putting them in the woods.
I have no reason to put this one in the woods. The beach is as wild as it gets.

I'm quite partial to Subaru Blue myself........
Sad truth is, I don't lust after cars the way I used to. If I could buy whatever I liked (and had to live with it) it'd probably just be a Subaru....maybe a 6 cylinder one though.
All of those cars would look better in British Racing Green. Not an opinion. Just a fact.
Some cars look right in BRG, like MGs, Sprites, AH3Ks, Morgans and some Jaguars. Not the Cobra, though, and definitely not a Ferarri.

I don't rough it anymore so I'd go for that Impala SS in the background over the Cobra.
But MY dream car would be a Rolls coupe convertible from the 70s to mid-90s...off white, tan leather. Puts me in mind of one of those torpedo sterned launches fitted out for pure luxury, with speed and efficiency taking a back burner.

I nearly pulled out on one similar the other day. Lovely wee car but close to invisible at a right hand turn intersection with cars parked way too close up to the corner. It was just so low.
Whoops sorry , I saw the Caterham link but didn't open it, I assumed a 7.

I have a friend who drives one, pretty much every day, as his ordinary car; he points out that a part of the greatness of the Bristol 411 is that you can actually do that (don't try it with almost any other car of this vintage!)
The opposite of radar bait; policemen tend to salute it!
Incidentally, they are back in production (on reflection, make that "Bristol will make a 411 for you on the usual terms - which are that they have to like you and you have to promise to treat it in the manner that it expects and deserves - at quite a reasonable price - about what you might pay for one of those VolksBentleywagens...)

I love these when they're filled with drunks. It takes a few cars off the road and leaves me plenty of room on the road when riding a bicycle downtown.

I'd like a VW TDI Golf stretched 8" and for 6" of it to be in the back seat. People in the back seat really should have as much room as folks in the front. I had a '54 Ford and I loved the room back there.

Sure, after they put a proper rear suspension in them they were very decent automobiles. They just couldn't shake the repretation from the early models.

I was sitting over on J Legian yesterday - the main street through Kuta, Bali - where even the bikes can take minutes to do a hundred metres - and it can be 15 minutes to get 200 metres in a car - and a convoy of locals came through. A Maserati in the lead followed by a Porsche Carerra GT then a (Mercedes) AMG SLS and an RX8 Mazda. They were doing pretty well.... about 4kmh. Yeah.... I'd love the porker or the AMG.... but not here.

I've always wanted one of these.
In many respects, it was a highly unique car. Mechanically, it was nearly indistinguishable from an MG-TF... and despite the body style, it was primitive: wooden door frames, no door handles (a cable inside the door released the door latch... no way to actually lock the car; with the top up, the windows were a 'Perspex' sliding affair, so you could open the door from the outside). It even shipped with a crank handle for starting the engine if your battery was dead.
It's also an 'affordable' classic.... restored ones can be bought for reasonable money. However, it being an English car, you'd better prepare to do two hours of repair and maintenence for every hour of driving.... I owned an MGB at one time, so I know :):)

Not basically a problem - unless you've seen Dundee in January.
You know what Augusta is like for the Masters - well, Dundee is nothing like that.
You might need to change the colour scheme.

This one is genuine Dundee and sort of open topped - modified for trimming inconvenient branches from roadside trees.
