Dingo,
Opal is a 24-foot, Ted Brewer, modified dory ketch. Batten seam cedar over oak and mahogany with a long fir and lead fin keel. Short gaffs on both masts. Power is a six-horse Merc 4 stroke in a well, plumbed and etc., so it will run with all the hatches closed. She was built in Seattle (north side of Lake Union in 1981. She has kept me since late 91. She is a pretty small 24 footer, but she suits my needs.

Pete,
I have heard of all those Nye's and Nye places. Also, Nye County, AZ and Nye's Beach, OR. But, we haven't been able to track our family back to the east coast. I guess it was all supposed to start with the Nye brothers there in North Falmouth. We can only trace it back several generations to someplace around the Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky borders. What we have come to believe is that a census-taker spelled it wrong on a at sometime so we just droped off the earth. Who knows??

Anyway, take it easy,
Ed

Lovely! You must have felt quite proud to be part of that select company. Quite right, too.
