Well, at least he's making some lawyers wealthy (with our money).

House Republican leaders have tripled the amount allocated (http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/04/boehners-lawyer-to-charge-520-per-hour-up-to-half-a-million-to-defend-doma.php) for a legal team arguing in support of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) from $500,000 to $1.5 million of taxpayer money.
A modified contract between the General Counsel to the House of Representatives and former Solicitor General Paul Clement (http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/04/boehner-picks-bush-solicitor-general-paul-clement-to-defend-doma.php) of Bancroft PLLC sets a cap of $750,000 which can be raised up to $1.5 million.

"It is absolutely unconscionable that Speaker Boehner is tripling the cost for his legal boondoggle to defend the indefensible Defense of Marriage Act," Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, said in a statement.
"At a time when Americans are hurting and job creation should be the top priority, it just shows how out of touch House Republicans have become that they would spend up to $1.5 million dollars to defend discrimination in our country," Hammill continued

Marriage is between a man and woman.......................
Are you being narrow minded?
Is there no marriage between the earth and the sky?
Marriage implies a close, supportive, or harmonious relationship. Are you implying that a man and woman, by being married, will enjoy mutual support, and harmony, and that people who are not married, will suffer from want, and chaos?
How does paying wealthy attorneys 3 times as much money to ensure that this is so, create more peaceful, harmonious close relationships between men, and women? How will this keep women from enjoying a supportive, and harmonious relationship with other women?
How would it affect your marriage, if two women get married? Would it suddenly make your marriage less, or more than it once was?

No it is after you get married that you suffer from want and chaos sets in.

I am in favor of reducing the government down to a balanced budget responsible constitutional government
that requires the least amount of taxation possible to maintain it.

Nope, I am all for the maximum liberty and freedom possible. And the government out of people's personal lives.
But if the gov. issues and requires a license, for whatever, obviously there has to be a certain
qualification for the individual to receive the license. You wouldn't grant CDL license to a blind person would you.
They don't qualify for the commercial driving license.

Looks like you are racking up some big government debts, and you don't want to pay for them.

yep, same old stuff that has never worked,
1. reduce gov't spending
2. cut taxes
3. reduce regulation

George Bush did numbers 2 and 3 already and how did that work out for the country? If I recall it nearly caused a complete economic meltdown.

So.... You're saying that blind people shouldn't be allowed to get married to people of the opposite sex if they don't have a CDL (Commercial Driver's License), because they aren't qualified to be chaotic?

Maybe not exactly, but what he said makes every bit as much sense (especially constitutionally) as this |;)

Gotta love bigots, eh?

Gotta love bigots, eh?

Webster defines a bigot as a person who is devoted to his religion, party, belief, opinion..........

Maybe someday you can be a bigot too...........

I define "Bigot" as someone blindly devoted to something wrong. You think that people who don't love each other should be licensed to reproduce, but people who do love each other, but don't reproduce should not be licensed? What's the point of the license? A license to screw?

who gets to define right and wrong......you?

You think that people who don't love each other should be licensed to reproduce
No not me, the license are controlled by the government, which are not normal logical thinking people..

but people who do love each other, but don't reproduce should not be licensed?
again the license are controlled by the government.....not me and or you..

What's the point of the license?
beats me...ask a woman why they think they need a marriage license....

A license to screw?
gee I hope not...it seems like you have to have a government license and pay a fee for everything today..See we have too much government..

Oh,by the way norm taught me how to do these stupid breakdowns...

Well - here's a direct quote from Merriam Webster online:

: a person who is obstinately (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/obstinate) or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Ron - while you & I disagree about plenty of things, you've had some good posts here stating your side of things. I'm sorry, but IMO, this is not one of those times.
