View Full Version : Replacing zipper in Hobie 18 jib

I think I can handle the task, I just wonder what options I have for the zipper. I am sure I can source the specific zipper at some cost. But it is a pretty clapped out sail, and I see some sweet deals on marine zipppers, ykk 10, I just don't know who will custom make a zipper to length, or what I can do to make my own. The zipper needs to undo like a jacket so it can encircle the forestay.

Another option would be to install hanks, so long as an alternative will still roller reef. At the moment the reefed sail is not really a dial-a- reef situation. It works when out, and it reefs in. So I am not too concerned with the mid way performance the sail flaps badly when half rolled in.

This is a wooden boat question, it is on my wooden tri. :)
