SNAP, more well known for distribution of Food Stamps. Federal rules prohibit Food Stamps from being used to purchase prepared foods except by the elderly, disabled, or homeless. Since 2005 the benefits paid out in the form of Food Stamps has increased from $28.5 billion to 64.3 billion annually. Now restaurants want in the game. Currently the state of Florida and Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Long John Silver among others are actively lobbying for rules changes to expand which businesses may accept Food Stamps also to expand the list of eligible purchasers to any receiving supplemental assistance.
