I presume that, within the small world of WBF, this ranks right up there with Stanley and Livingston. The day before yesterday, I stopped in Meteghan, N.S. and met Michael Mason. He took me around for errands to buy ice and fuel and we had dinner at his favorite establishment where we traded home office naval architect war stories and had a grand time.

This is just the first of several meet ups with WBF folks on this cruise. First though, I have to get around Cape Sable, the Cape Horn of Nova Scotia. I'm currently in Yarmouth where I've spend a day waiting out biblical rains and taking advantage of the free waterfront WiFi.

You can find my cruise reports at:

The Willard Beach Dory got launched although I wasn't there to see it. Barbara is very pleased with it. Hopefully Clint will post a report and some pictures. All I have is a small cell phone photo Barbara sent. If he doesn't, someone please bug him. I'll probably be off battling the tide rips and fog around Cape Sable tomorrow.

Mike was the first forumite (or ex. forumite, he's too busy now) to see the wheel and he was very impressed.

The plain shellac finish seems to be holding up well. It is changing but in an organic and not unpleasant way. The harsh, sandpaper like feel disappeared quickly as it softens in the sun and moisture and it now feels very pleasant. It will need refinishing by the end of the summer but, as easy as it is to do, I'm so far thinking that not varnishing was a good decision.

I suspect your wheel observation will be the first of many interesting & useful ones as you sojurn. Keep them coming, and buona fortuna.
