I readily followed Dave Carnell's suggestion and got two of Tom Jones' books: "Multihull Voyaging" and "New Plywood Boats". Two very interesting books! The latter, in particular, contains what appear to be a complete set of plans of his Weekender 18' catamaran, a very interesting boat, which looks quite easy to build.
The only possible missing piece of information seems to be the camber of the bulkheads sides, which look curved indeed in the drawings.

Question: has anybody ever seen a Weekender? How does she sail?

Follow the link below, and you'll get a report from the designer. (He built her with a foot more beam than the plans show.) And the prototype is for sale . . .

That picture is of Tom Jones and my friend Tom Bandy on The Tuckahoe river on her maiden voyage. As of the Last time I talked to Tom Jones, that catamaran was still for sale. If you call him, I am sure he'll tell you.

And who is supposed to sail the boat from Tuckahoe river all the way to Italy through Gibraltar?

Tom has sailed his small plywood catamarans to Europe on several occassions.

So, maybe that price is inclusive of delivery to my beach house on the Ionian coast...
