There is a heat wave in the US & Canada right now but its all east of the Rockies.
Whats the temp where you are?

Canada hotspot today, Winnipeg, Man. 48C (118.4F) with the humidity factor.
US hotspot with humidity, Iowa @ 52C (125.6F) Which is hot enough that camels can't handle it. In fact my sources tell me that you can't find a camel in Iowa now for love or money.

High was supposed to be 36 today (that's about 97F for those of you still using medieval measurement systems), humidex up around 47. Hell, the LOW tonight is only 24. I suspect some serious storm activity is on the way.

At the moment it is only 71.6F (21.9C) here but the high today was 92.8F (33.8C).

Low 90s here today, and the humidity is building. Thunderstorms threatened in the late afternoon, but we just ended up with a few sprinkles, not even enough to wet the pavement.

We are looking at 100 Thursday and Friday. But it is a very moist heat.

Missoula Montana had a high today of 89F but a thunderstorm moved in and now it's 70F--we've had a couple days in the low 90s but going down to about 80F for the rest of the week. We are certainly west of the Rockies, though surrounded by mountains.

I'm guessing 70 F. We've got a frontal system coming in off the plains that holds some possible thunderstorms. They don't tend to get terribly violent here. The places I lived in NE and Central Ohio and Northern Michigan had some wicked ones.

Not terrible hot here, in part because I'm close to the ocean.

Fahrenheit is not medieval; it's 18th century

Without question. Because I know that, I referred to the entire system, many measurements of which (pound and inch, anyone?) date back to medieval times if not earlier.

Just because we use measurements based on a dead king's body parts is no reason to make fun of us.

94 and humid here. Still might take the Whitehall to the lake tomorrow ( and take a swim as well!)

Last three days in Billings (east of the Rockies, but I can see them) 100+. Rest of the week in the 80s.

Noon time it is 82 with 68 dew point, the heat gets here tomorrow. Cape Cod sticks out in the ocean enought to give us a couple degree drop from the rest of the state.

Hi Tom,

Did I hear correctly that Kentucky had a heat index temp the other day of 117? Yikes!

Tom Montgomery
07-20-2011, 01:46 PM
Yes. That was during the 1st week of July. The temp was in the upper 90's with a dew point of about 82F.

Currently it is 93F with a 79F dewpoint. The heat index is currently 110F.

They are now predicting today's high to be 96F.
