I've never owned a Luger. Bought intelligently it certainly wouldn't lose value. Might be kinda fun to own and shoot.

Yup....very rare. They a limited number while competing for the U.S. Army hand gun contract, eventually won by Colt with the immortal model 1911.

Only two originally were made. Since WWII Mauser has built a couple thousand .45 Lugers in limited batches typically around 200 at a time. There's a gentleman in California that builds them ground up for around $20,000 a pop.
