I heard that surfer interviewed this morning and he said it wasn't too bad.

I don't know if it's the lens , but that looks awful close together . Called how long can you hold your breath :)

Thats a good solid set there, and I would say those waves are spaced a good 15 or 18 secs apart.Maybe more. Plenty of time to recover, from a botched duckdive or a roll along the bottom, and power into the next one if it closes out on ya. That dismount looks like fun.You can see where he shot along the face just under that lip there, before launching off the back of the thing to the safety of midair.

Is that a cemetery on top of the rocks?

Is that a cemetery on top of the rocks?Might as well put the cemetery right on the beach. Save carrying the poor bastards up the hill.

I have never surfed (it's quite popular here). I just never saw the appeal although I enjoy watching.
Everyone I've told this to has said that I should try it and that I'd be hooked right away.
I might give it a shot some day but it's not on my bucket list.
Skydiving is on the list though ... hopefully on or before my 50th birthday.

That looks fine to me, though I am a little more circumspect as I get older. Woolamai has been good, but the local strip is like a washing machine a good 1K out.

I read Tim Winton's "Breathless". Is that real about surfers going miles out to isolated atols to catch monsters?
Great book BTW

Hey IAN If you haven't see "Liittle Fish." One of the best Australian films of the last twenty years. I've been recommending it and won't stop until I'm blue.

There are waves and then there are good waves. And then there are waves so big and perfect that only your imagination can picture their awesome power and true beauty. That or a long trip out to some far off atoll.
People search the planet, by whatever means possible, in the Search. If there were waves on Mars, bigger and better than here on Earth, surfers would have found a way to travel to and inhabit the place, long ago.
