What is the name of a good book about painting/finishing wooden boats????
I find there is a lot of different opinions about how to finish a boat. I am building a 15 foot fishing skiff and need to know. I think epoxy marketers say to coat everthing in epoxy. I think paint manufacturers do not recommend epoxy.

Haven't read these so I can't say if they are quality references.
There is a descending scale of moisture barrier for boats... with epoxy glassed hulls primed and painted at the top... to just plain paint over wood at the bottom of the scale... and every variation in between.
Boats are finished depending on type of boat, type of construction, use, etc, etc.
What does your boat's designer recommend? The boats construction has a lot to do with how the exterior is finished.
Give us more details on your boat... pics too..

I don't think it's been updated since '92 so it might be rather dated but Fine Boat Finishes for Wood and Fiberglass by Butler can be picked up from AbeBooks for under $5 including shipping.
