Here's an old glass negative I just scanned in, anyone know where it might be? I'd guess the Hudson just because of the subject matter, but the light house sure looks like New England. Since I scanned it in, I may have flipped the image and it might be backwards....

If you right click on the image and then click on "View image" the original is a lot larger and may be easier to see some details.

Looks a bit like Fishers Island sound, that wind would be a South Westerly if I;m right

Not our stretch of the Hudson - the shoreline is too low, and north of the Hudson Highlands where the banks are lower, the river is much narrower. So my guess is not the Hudson.

With that far horizon, I'd also say...not on the Hudson River.
(I am looking out across the Hudson at the moment.)
I would guess Gardiner's Island with the edge of Three Mile Harbor in the scene closer.
Image Reversed.
Waters there are well protected, suitable for sailboats large and small.

Oh yeah, she's definitely a Hudson River Sloop, so Long Island Sound or South Shore are not out of the question.

Looking south on the river from somewhere around Piermont.
