Kirby's over aluminum

Anyone ever try Kirby's semi gloss over aluminum?

I have a couple seat pedestals made of aluminum that I would like to paint the same color as the interior hull color, Kirby's slate grey. A few years back I painted an aluminum boom with rustoleum spray paint and it held up very well. My thoughts are to thin the Kirby's and apply it with a disposable spray bottle.

[On Vacation]

Etch the peddestal with alumaprep and then prime and paint. The medal knows no difference. Awlquip is a worse coating, though.
