I need an instrument cluster for Sue's 1984 300 Turbo Diesel and I'm having a hard time finding it. I found one but they say it may not work on a non Euro model. What is the difference between a Euro model and Non Euro? This car was built in Germany.

Looking at the picture on the internet, it looks the same. I've already removed the old cluster from the car.

I had a 1987 MB 190e and was able to find most anything for it. Also have a '69 250 that's still going strong. Have you looked at Hemmings? There were a lot of MB supply outfits the last time I looked. Also, Mercedes had stated that they can get you any part for any Mercedes that has ever been made. I've found parts for these cars to be reasonably priced too.

They were all built in Germany but the ones built for the United States are in many cases better. The Euro models have a kilometer speedometer and such. Some things have to be changed to import a car built for Germany. They call these grey cars and they are not worth as much as regular US German cars. In some cases they are pretty cool as in one 300 I amost bought which had manual transmission , manual windows and manual skylight. Can't buy those here. There are a lot of different Mercedes around the world. Some countries use them for taxi cabs. Very good cars. I have three and one is a 1984 300 Turbo Diesel with only 60k miles on it.

Do you need a whole cluster? Sometimes fixes can cost only pennies. The E34 Bimmers have some capacitors in the back of the cluster that stuff up... and are easily replaced with some from Radio Shack.

What went wrong with the old cluster? Odd you would need the whole thing.

This is what I need. This is the Euro model. It looks the same as the one off Sue's car with the exception of one minor detail. That being this one doesn't have the gizmo on it that rewinds the trip odometer. I'm also not 100 per cent sure of the connections on the back. The one on Sue's car starting leaking oil at the oil pressure guage. According to a forum I read the easiest fix is to replace the cluster.

Let my know how you make out MM
I have a friend that has quite a stash of 123 parts and be able to help.

also, by replacing the whole cluster you will lose value in the car by
not having accurate mileage showing.. unless her car
has been reduced to a beater, I would replace the oil gage and retain
the original cluster.

what am I saying?? NO MM.....there is no repair for this, the car is totaled.....I'll
be right up for it:D:D:D
